Jeffrey Hartzell

Jeff Hartzell is a certified physician assistant at our Wasilla location, bringing over a decade of experience treating patients and leading teams as a member of the United States Air Force. His career has taken him across the globe—including Germany, Guam, Turkey, and Elmendorf Air Force Base—where he has developed expertise in addressing a wide range of conditions, including chronic back pain.

Mr. Hartzell is a teacher, mentor, and leader in physician assistant development. He holds a Doctor of Medical Science degree (DMSc) and two master’s degrees in Physician Assistant Studies and Health Sciences/International Health. Additionally, he earned three undergraduate degrees in diagnostic medicine, laying a strong foundation for his practice, which emphasizes accurate diagnosis as the cornerstone of effective treatment plans.

Having experienced life around the world, Mr. Hartzell chose Alaska for its unmatched natural beauty and the strong sense of community. He focuses on providing personalized care and treatment for back, neck, and spine issues, guided by the latest evidence-based medical practices. Patients also appreciate his bilingual capabilities, including his ability to speak Spanish.

Outside of his work at OPA, Mr. Hartzell enjoys spending time with his family, as well as hunting, fishing, whitewater rafting, scuba diving, and traveling to intriguing destinations around the globe.
